14+
years of cutting hair in Downtown Macon
It started with a man who wanted to own his own business.
VJ's belongs to Victor Dixon, known to everybody in the chair as VJ. He calls Macon his hometown, and he didn't start out behind the clippers. His work was in manufacturing, and after he was displaced from his job twice in five years, he decided it was time to go into business for himself. He chose barbering.
He picked up the trade in 2009 and opened VJ's in downtown Macon, just wanting to be able to afford his bills. He had no idea it would become what it is today. VJ's has now been open 14 years, with a crew of barbers and a loctician, and a lot of families who keep coming back.
“It is not just about the haircut. I have a lot of clients where I have watched their kids grow.”
“I knew nothing about cutting hair until 2009.”
